We are very excited to announce that the network upgrade at block 232000 was successful and Sigma has been fully activated. This upgrade officially makes NIX the first network to implement Sigma on mainnet. NIX’s Sigma integration introduces a new level of privacy for the NIX network and introduces its own custom implementation among the many privacy oriented projects with reused technology.
This upgrade also includes the final version of our custom, built from scratch, Off-Chain Governance implementation.
Sigma
Sigma brings both scalability and enhanced privacy to NIX and its has been successfully activated at block 232000.
Sigma allows us to significantly scale our privacy transactions by decreasing the on-chain size by 94%, as well as remove the trusted set-up previously needed with Zerocoin. This makes privacy on NIX much more scalable while even increasing the anonymity set NIX has to offer. With the trust-less setup, high anonymity set, and scalability sigma bring to NIX, the privacy utility on chain is now extremely competitive when compared to top projects such as Monero.
Privatized funds made prior to this update can now be redeemed using the command “unghostamount” followed by the amount in the debug console. If unsure of your previous account balance, “getwalletinfo” will return your legacy ghost balance.

Off-Chain Governance
In a first ever blockchain governance solution, the entire NIX community can now make proposals on network changes/enhancements/additions to be voted on by both node owners and stakers on the NIX network; completely off-chain without bloating the NIX blockchain. There are already great proposals made, and more coming in daily. The future of NIX is strong when the community backing and supporting the project can also decide on where to move the project forward.
